A superb red wine from the South of France with an abundance of fruit character, loads of depth, and great fineese.
Domaines Bonfils is a family business, that has been growing grapes since 1870. Now in the 6th generation, the business comprises 19 Domaines and Chateaux, 17 of which are in the Languedoc with 1800 hectares of vineyards, making them one of the largest independent grape-grower/wine producers in France. Chateau l'Esparrou (built in 1891) was purchased by Bonfils in 2012. The geographical situation of this domaine is unique; a piece of land, severed from the Pyrenees millenia ago, this vineyard is surrounded by water; lagoons on three sides and the Mediterranean sea on the other. The surrounding woodland is protected and boasts over 200 different species of trees. The winery building was designed by the famous architect Gustav Eiffel.
