It takes its name from the ancient Roman wine Falernian which was believed to be the crème de la crème of Roman tipples, but John D. Taylor’s Velvet Falernum is also rooted in the bar culture of Barbados and is thought by many to be the original. It is pure Barbados rum-based, sweetened with cane sugar syrup to luscious viscosity and infused with spices and lime juice.
